Dedicated to the Great Dane

Rescue depends on you…

You should know that all funds received go directly to the Great Danes in our rescue program . The funds and or supplies are used solely for Medical Care, to provide a good Foster Home, Boarding if necessary and pays for the costs involved in retrieving an abandoned Dane and placing him/her in a new
home.

The success of any organization such as ours depends greatly on volunteers. We are always looking for new individuals to help us with the Adoption process. There are many ways to offer help whether its on a one time basis or as much as you’re willing to. Below is a list of ways you could help by joining us as a volunteer.

Foster Homes

Foster a dog by opening your home and heart to a dog in need. We depend on Foster homes, as they are one of our greatest assets to the program. When you decided to foster a Great Dane you have taken a major step in saving the life of a Dane. Foster homes allow us to put Danes we have received into a good situation where they will receive love, attention and in many cases get back into good health. Having foster homes also greatly reduces the operating cost of the rescue as boarding a Great Dane can be very expensive. When we do not have foster homes available, boarding a dog is our last resort.

Foster care consists of providing a safe, loving, temporary home for a dog until a permanent adoptive home can be found. All dogs are screened for health and temperament before entering our program. We provide food, basic supplies, veterinary care, and guidance. You provide the love, training and home. The dog provides you with love, joy, and the satisfaction of having saved a life. Be prepared to foster the dog until a permanent home can be found! Adoptions could take weeks or even months!

If you would like to foster a dog for us, please get in touch as soon as possible, for some it could mean the difference between life and death! All parties interested in being a foster home must fill out an application. Please call or e-mail for more information!

Fundraising

We are a not for profit organization and therefore we depend donations and fundraising functions solely to raise money for our Rescue program and services which is dedicated to Danes in need. This is always a VITAL aspect of our rescue program. You can help by volunteering to work a booth at various events, come up with ways to raise funds, contact groups that give grants to organizations such as ours or just be there to help out when needed. Or if you have the ability yourself or know someone that would be willing to host a fundraising event or benefit in the name of Rescue – we would love to learn more about the opportunities you may be interested in or can offer in order to help our Rescue Program. Every dollar can make a difference!

Every dog that comes into rescue has different needs, and there have been many cases when a wonderful Dane has come to us and is in critical need of medical care. This is a cost we always try to be prepared for and this type of care can sometimes be very expensive. we consider it a privilege to be able to offer this dog that care because of your donations.

Home Checks

This is an important function in our organization. Home checks are performed for every prospective adopting individual or family. We like to make sure that the new home has certain required elements, which is the whole purpose of a home check. It doesn't take long and can be very rewarding. You meet new people who are very interested in Great Danes and you make new friends through this process. We will offer at least a weeks advance notice or more and the ability to schedule this at your convenience with the potential home owners and yourself.

Public Events

We try and attended various dog related or public events and participate in community relation events throughout the year. When we go to an event we will need people to setup and work a booth. You would be talking to the pubic about our rescue program and Great Danes and or just being a smiling people greeter.

There may be talents you have that we have not listed here. If you have a skill, service or talent we haven't mentioned, we are always open to new ideas and would love to hear from you. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer with GDCOR you can call or email us today.
